Marco Maria Scolaris

Turin, 1958

Born in Turin, where he lives, in 1958. Mountaineer and climber, since he was a child, with his family, he spent most of his free time in the mountains.
He dedicated his photojournalist activity to this passion, publishing articles and services in Italian and international magazines. He was photo-editor of Meridiani Montagne and for several years of the historic ALP magazine.
He has made multivisions on climbing and mountaineering, video clips, photographic exhibitions, climbing guides.
Founder of the Italian Sports Climbing Federation – FASI in 1988, of which he was Sports Director from 1990 to 1998.
Italian Delegate to the UIAA (Union International des Associations d’Alpinisme) since 1990, then International Judge since 1998, Technical Delegate in over 40 international events, finally member of the Executive Board (2004-2007).
Founder and President of the International Federation of Sport Climbing – IFSC (2007 -), recognized by the IOC in 2007. He brought sport climbing to Buenos Aires 2018 (Youth Olympic Games) and the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.
Since 2012 he has been President of the SASP ASD – Società Arrampicata Sportiva Palavela, the first historic Italian company, still one of the largest.
